this is for the M60 engine, should be same for the M62

Measuring:
disconnect sensor harness connectors
Coil resistance (approx.) @ 20 Degree C 540 +/- 10% Ohm
Air gap (sensor distance from toothed wheel 1.0 =/- 0.3 mm

Disconnect plug. Measure between pins 1 and 2 the resistsnce, what1 is, see the drawing in link, the plug has a certain shape, so you cannot mix 1 and 3,
Specification: 520 Ohm plus/minus 5%
Check shielding: between 1 and 3 100 kOhm
Between pins 2 and 3 100 kOhm
