Innenraum: Wir helft mir mit Kontursitze

I am sorry but my 'written' German is not good enough to ask the question, therefor, this is in English.

Since 1999 I drive an 1995 BMW 728i Executive (dutch package) which basically means amongst others, electrical and heated seats and "doppelverglasung". As an added feature the car has KonturSitze which are absolutely excellent for my big posture (1.96) and allas not sold enough.

I currently am looking for a 2000 or 2001 728iL (optionaly 735iL or 740iL) with low kilometers (less than 125.000).
However it has to meet the dutch Executive Spec (especially double glasing).
I would prefer to have DSP and sunroof as well.

This seams next to impossible and if I find a good iL the seats are not Kontursitze.

I have asked a couple of dutch BMW dealers (and some of them have asked BMW Netherlands) for a Kontursitze.
It appears that these cannot be supplied anylonger???

My questions therefor are:

1. Can you tell me or help me with a solution for a new Kontursitze?
2. Is it easy to change the windows (of the doors...) to Doppelverglasung?

I´m 1.96 m too, and I have no problems with the "Komfortsitz", for me it´s the best seat in the E38 and in my opinion much better than the "Kontursitz" (but that is from person to person different )...


Maybe you should look for an E38, no matter if it has Komfort- or Kontursitze. There are several persons (for example in this board), who are in love with the "Komfortsitz" but have "Kontursitze" and maybe you can change the seats with anybody of them.
So that was my first idea

But I can´t belive that there´s no way to get an Kontursitz from your dealer
Maybe you should ask BMW in Germany, I´m sure they will have a solution for your problem


Changing the windows to double-glas seems to be very difficult, because you need new door-casings (ähh, kann mal jemand nachgucken, ob dass tatsächlich Türverkleidungen sind?! ) and some other parts at last.
It´s possible to change, but it´s a lot of work, not easy and very expensive, too

Hi, just to make sure we are talking about the same thing - you mean this following seats:



They are also known as "Sportsitze" and pretty rare in a 7-Series.

Most of them are equipped with the "Komfortsitze" (here Alpina version, only difference are the stripes):



The "Kontursitze" from the E39 should also fit but I am not finally sure about that.

About exchange from "normal" to "Doppelverglasung": there was a thread about this topic a couple of month ago but I cannot remember the outcome. Maybe you will find it through the "Suchen"-option.

Wer soll denn das sein? Ich persönlich mag die Sportsitze auch lieber. Ich bin aber auch ein Hungerhaken, der locker in die Schraubstöcke passt

I am pretty sure that the Kuntursitz is still available in Germany. I have been talking to the BMW dealer in August and he told me that it was no problem to order new ones from BMW. But I think 6000euros is definitively too much for 2 seats.
I would rather try to get second hand ones...

Those are the ones I mean.

The comfortsitze is shorter (both seat and back) and are narrower for my back.

apparantly they are sold out and are no longer produced.
According to a link I found on this site where you can find parts.

they should be still available in blue and grey for the >98 models and in black for the <98 models.

I do not understand if there should be any difference in those chairs!

I am now also looking at a 735i E65 with comfortseats. maybe this is a better choice?

Hey,

I think it should be possible to get these at eBay, or 2nd hand anywhere else. The problem is they should also be colour of your leather interior!
However, I m also quite sure they are available on stock, since we asked for them about 1 year ago, but than didn't proceed because of the price.

Doppelverglasung is a whole other topic! Changing regular to doppel is quite a challenge I think...
