Für die, die kein Englisch können, aber Ahnung haben (im Gegensatz zu mir):

Gibt es nicht nur zwei Lenkräder für den E38? Das Standard- und das M-Lenkrad. Und dann ist da noch das Individual Lenkrad. Oder könnt Ihr Euch vorstellen, was silver50 sonst noch wissen möchte?

You´ve got two possibilities:

First with the original wheel, but instead of the leather-rim with an wood-application, in this thread you´ll find some pictures:

The other option is the "M steering-wheel" (my favourite

), you can get this wheel with an black leather rim or also with an bi-color rim (but this option is a little bit more expensive

), but take care, if you will change, you´ll need a new airbag and some smaller parts, too --> expensive

Some crazy folks (

) on this board have also modificated wheels from the M-Models (E46 for example) with SMG, but that seems to be a lot of hard work and modification until it will work...

I'm one of the 2 crazy guys who modify the M3 E46 steering wheel for E38 applications. As I know there are 3 E38 running with this type of steering wheel in Europe.
It's right, there is a lot of work to do, but I'd ship a rtf (ready to fit) steering wheel to you.
You must do some electrical changes in the car on your own, a manual could be delivered.
Please note: the changes I've done (or I'd do for you) are working very well, but you'd install this special prepared M3 steering wheel on your own risk.

This was something I was wondering about,thanks.Do you have to do much to the cars' wiring,could you briefly explain what is necessary?I don't actually need my radio functions on the st/wheel as I am running an independant hi-fi in my car-but would like to keep the cruise control functions.

I got a M-Steering Wheel with airbag left, if you would like it...
but without the multifunction-buttons...
But you can buy them for 15-40€ on ebay...

the special wiring you've to do will cost you approx. 60 Minutes.
The following will work:
cruise control except on/off (use the old button nearby the speedo)
entertainment noise
CD-change or radio-station change.

I'm not willing to explain everything here in English. Caused by trans time. In case of business I'll translate the german manual expecially for you.

But: I think, my postings leaded to some missunderstandings:
I'm not a dealer, I'm not a company, I'm a private guy. I own actually 1 (one!!!) M3 E46 SMG steering wheel, which has never been installed in a car and which I could prepare for this E38 application.

Maybe I can get another one, but only one more! A small "mass production" is not possible!!!

This offer I've postet here brought actually 4 interests, the first one who will make a "contract" with me will get the item.

Note: in the future it will be no problem for me to adapt delivered steering wheels. F.e. you buy any M3 E46 (only this type) SMG or manual shifted steering wheel and ship it to me; I'll do all needed changes and ship it back to you.

Price: find it out via U2U

'ungelesen' means there are new unread messages waiting for you. So just click there and another window will pop up and you can read your private messages and answer also by U2U.
Sometimes you have to delete the received and sent messages, as there is limited storage capacity of 100 or 200 messages in total (not sure). If your U2U = private mail box is full/at the limit, no one can send you further messages till you delete=loeschen old ones.
You can also check under "Nachrichten verfolgen" in that section if someone already has read your message or not.
