Das erstaunt mich. Das hätte bei mir wohl eher nicht geklappt, spätestens nach Aufrufen einer Memory-Position.

Hast Recht, der halt wohl nur die Sitze getauscht ohne Memory, hier der Text:
I had that problem on my comforts when I swapped them left to right. I just reversed the wires at the switch. Not sure if that's a solution for memory seats though.

I now remember that it wasn't the switch wires but the wires to the motors that I reversed. I didn't have the little tool to pull the pins out of the connectors so I just cut the wires and swapped them. There's a nifty little tool available that will allow you to pull the round pins out of bmw connectors. Anyway it was only the seat base motors that I needed to reverse. The back worked fine.

Auch Sitz-Tauschen (Memory gegen Non-Memory) hilft doch nicht - der Spiegelverkehrt-Effekt betrifft auch die Spiegelgläser.

Höchstens Komplettumbau = totaler Verzicht auf jegliche Memory-Funktion (also auch Bordstein-Funktion und ggfs. Lenksäulen-Memory) ginge, nach meinem Verständnis...

Hab noch mal im US Forum nachgefragt im E31 Forum, die haben ja die selben Probleme und teilweise das selbe SMM Steuergeraet im E31:

FWIW, I had the steering column memory controller fail on my 850 and yes the controls were reversed along with a shorter than normal travel.
Given, they are functionally identical I anticipate the Seat/Mirror Memory Module circuitry will be nearly identical.
Been an E-Tech for 50yrs so I always open up everything and do some meter probing to see if I can determine what went wrong. Might even research the parts to see if I can determine the specific circuitry.

In my steering column controller, one of the electrolytic caps failed and caused the dual +5v regulator to not perform correctly.
Essentially, these controllers have a constant power (sleep mode) to maintain memory settings and a run power (ignition on).
That I recall, the run power was being overloaded by the failing cap and the output voltage was below spec when the ignition was turned on.
Yep, replaced the caps and all was well.
