Strange thing

My friend told me that I could make some tricks with my 750i. See if you understand what I mean here and tell me what it´s for:

First, push the button to the right between the "drehzahlmesser (rpm)" and the water-temp-meter. After that you keep that button in and at the same time you switch on the key to position 2 (not so the engine start) and then after the 5 seconds you can lett go of the button. Then you see alot of information, for exampel "Fahrzeugnummer" last numbers. What is all these information for?
