that engine is probably the most looked-for engine of the whole e38 series, due to the small number of 740d built and the high rate of blown-up engines.
you probable wont find one in reasonable time or for a reasonable price- better ask a licensed bmw dealer for a new one.

yes, but its cheeper to buy a whole car, than only engine, or maybye in lithuania prices are very high, can you please ask for your local bmw dealer how much can it cost?

An engine should be in the range of 10k Euros. As far as i know.
The V8 petrol Engines are a little bit cheaper, the V12 is around 15k

But my advice would be too, as u already said above, to buy a whole car...
all in all is it cheaper, then just buying huge parts lk the engine...
They´re a lot of "cheap" cars with low km´s (Diesel engines) on the german platforms right now, pls take a look...:

Hi and sry for delay!
The 740d is a rare car even in germany aswell in the other E.C.-Countries,
so you´ll have some problems to get slaughtered 740d´s or huge, single parts like the engine or maybe transmissions on an auto-graveyard or similar...
but otherwise u can try it here:  www.carparts.de maybe they can help...

In my opinion it´s still the best (or easiest) to get a whole car,
maybe crashed (even incl. on the url´s, I wrote above, just click the button: "beschädigte Fahrzeuge" & "Unfallwagen"), sell the parts u don´t need, and spare the engine or others...

As I saight, the 4ltr. Diesel is a very rare engine and E38-parts are very demanded, so it possibly can be, that u´ll get the engine for "free", if u can sell the other parts for good prices
