e32 750il DME
http://www.7-forum.com/forum/5/750il...it-215268.html

I did some research and Shogun, I saw one of your posts that may be what is wrong with my E32. Anyway I put in a fresh battery, put in fresh gas, checked for spark and injector tick and all seems ok. I also have fuel pressure on the line going to the fuel rail that is right beside the expansion tank. The engine will crank and it even gets to a point where it sounds like its going to start but nothing. .
----------------
Update: Car is not starting up at all now.
-The fuel pump is not priming
-There is no spark
-Throttle Bodies do not respond open up at all now
-Check Engine Light no longer shows up when turning the key to ON
-Transmission A/M switch is stuck on "S". Worked fine previously between "A" and "M". "S" never showed up until now
-Starter just cranks and cranks but nothing.
I am now 20 steps back after taking 2 steps forward. Today it was starting up quick, would idle for 3 to 5 seconds and then die (due to dks not opening) and all I did was remove the guage cluster and reinstall it back in. I did also remove the relays under the rear seat to look for corrosion and put them back in.
----------------------------
Thanks for that write up Shogun. Ok so I turned they key, unplugged X502 and the only thing that goes out is the "S" next to the transmission gear. Does not affect anything else. I checked for power at the connector of X502 and I am getting 12v. I even ran a wire just as the write up from the white connector pins to the EML light, nothing shows up. The only way the turn on is if I ground the bulb and at that point it stays on constantly even with the key out. I checked pins 17 and 18 on the X21 plug coming from the EML and I am only getting .3v on pin 17 and 8v on pin 18. I would like to check the continuity between the plug and EML but I cant find any pin outs at all. I also want to check the other connectors but still no pin outs. I double checked both CPS and they are still reading the same resistance of 545 ohms and the other 549 ohms. Gauge cluster still not showing any CEL with key on like it used to, and transmission mode remains on "S" even after switching out the mode switch with one I had from the 735i.
----------------------------------------------
5 months later Ive checked everything I could think of.
12V at Fuse 20 (Always On) to x16 on the back of the cluster
12V at at both EML lights
12V at x502 on both pins
12V under the dash connection
12V at X20 both pins 17 and 18 (Oddly enough, the online ETM says it should be X21 but my bentley and personal findings show X20.
0.4V at EML Harness plug pin 15 with X20 disconnected from Fuse 20
12V from Main Relay into EML Module on all related pins
0.45V at 11 and 12 on EML Module to DKs
Continuity checks out ok from EML to X20 and to DKs and throughout circuit.
Only thing I could find was that I am not getting an output of 5.0Vdc at pins 11 and 12 that go to the DKs. I am only getting 0.45V on the EML module itself and not getting 12V sent to the cluster from pin 15 on the EML either.
The 12V at the cluster is only from the fuse block (always on) connection
I checked this with the key to ON
Could the module itself be causing all my issues? No EML light whatsoever (Did the bulb fix) and no start unless DKs are pushed open?
Also I cannot do stomp test in this car, CEL stays lit. I cant test pedal as I do not have a helper around to push the pedal. EML Does come on when I ground the 12V coming from the x20 connector. From my understanding, the EML sends out 12V and the Fuse block always sends out 12V to the EML Lamps.
----------------------------------
Ende:
She RUNS!!!!!!!!! After my last post I pretty much left the car parked and in the meantime tried to source a donor EML unit. I thought id come back in and write something instead of leaving it as a dead post as most others are.
Bavauto recycling wanted close to $500 for a used one... Local junkyards never had 750s while I searched through their inventory and EBAY gave me nothing either except a few german sellers but they did not state it was from a running car. I could not source a second hand one until last week. He said it was pulled out of a running 750, $35!! I could not believe it.
Anyway it had some trouble coming here from CA but it made it here today, swapped it in, put the key to ON and the EML did its self check, lamp went on and off and started right up! Accelerated without any problems and idles incredibly smooth. I did the cleaning of the DKs months ago so they seem to be working perfectly fine.
I also wanted to thank all of you for taking time in helping me troubleshoot this to the most that could possibly have been done. I cant thank this forum and its members enough for all the help provided!

Auto fahren.

Just try.
