Da ich ja nach wie vor noch in der Planung für die Aufrüstung des Audiosystems bin, sammle ich immer noch weiter Information und dazu habe ich unter anderem folgendes Posting auf dem AV Message-Board von Roadfly gefunden:

1) Normal/standard signals: Each channel has only one signal wire, the second wire just being a reference (analog ground). When the music is low in level the voltage is low, but that also makes the signal more suceptible to noise in the system since music and noise are of similar amplitude. This is the most common setup used today.

2) Diferential signals: Both wires have a signal on them, normally a high voltage (which is less suceptible to noise). The music is found by substracting the two signals - in other words, the "content" is the "difference" between the two wires, hence the name. This is the recent method used today by BMW stereos since the mid/late 90's and current cars (E39, E46, Mini, X5, and others.

Although differential signals deliver signals which are less suceptible to noise pickup, not all modern amplifiers can take these signals directly. Many of the beter amps do handle them directly (which is the best scenario for less distorsion/coloration), but if you have an amp that does not, then you need something like the VEN4 (from Peripheral) to "convert" the differential signals back to a "normal" ground/signal pair (your common RCA type of signals).

Wenn ich das alles richtig verstanden habe, ist es wohl nicht so einfach einen passenden Verstärker für die BMW Werksradios zu finden.
