Problem with instrument/dashboard lights ..
Hello!
I really screwed up today. I hooked up new stereos and accidently connected wrong wires together. When I took a testdrive, I noticed that stereos worked just fine, but instument lights and dashboards lights not ..
So, I took the stereos off and noticed that I had accidently connected the wire that probably controls the dimming of lights to ground .. . I fixed my mistake right away, but the lights never came back. The position of dimmer switch does not matter. Therefore when driving the car, almost the whole dashboard is dark. Only lights that are still there are the kilometer/gear lights, and in the dashboard the small green lights located in the air conditioning panel auto buttons ...
I checked fuses, and they are all ok.
What do you think could have broken, where should I start locating the problem?
Ps. You can also answer in German, I understand it quite well!
Thank you,
Greetings from Finland,
Tuomas

Hi Tuomas,
When all the lights stay dark and your fuses are ok, my guess would be the dimmer switch. Perhaps its burnt up from the inside and doesnt connect anymore. Check it outside the car with an ohm meter. The km led's and the airco led's are not connected to the dimmer by my knowledge.
succes in resolving your problem.
Ciao,
Osl Jaap
