Bei den E32 ist bekannt, dass das Servotronic - Steuergeraet
zeitweise oder total ausfaellt.
Durch Austausch eines Elko's und nachloeten
kann man diese wieder flottmachen.

Kann sein, dass es bei Dir aehnlich ist.

Deine Beschreibung deutet auf elektronischen Defekt hin.
Das Aus- und Einschalten der Zuendung wirkt dann wie ein RESET.

Servotronics module fixed

Message: Wed. I parallel parked by 750 and went into work.
Two hours later I needed to head for a meeting at another location.
I fire the engine up and started to pull away and noticed the steering
was much heavier to turn than before.
This kept up for the rest of the day, into the Thur and on Friday
I was searching the board for fixes. I took the speaker panel off
and found the servotronics module with the 2 yellow plugs hanging down form it.
As stated before on this board these two plugs will plug into themselves
and provide full time power steering. I did this and the heaviness was gone,
suggesting the module was the problem.
I cleaned the contacts with contact cleaner which didn't help.
Figuring I had nothing to loose, I went to work with my dremel
to open up the servotronics case.
There were no relays to resolder howerver in the middle of the PC board
was a 47 micro fared 50 v electolytic capacitor.
Knowing what havoc these rascals can cause in the instrument clusters
I decided to change it out. No easy job because the cap was surrounded
by a hot glue like substance. Using a dremel, dentist's pick, and forsepts
I removed the glop just around the cap.
Using a desolderer I freed the cap and ran down to the local Radio Shack.
Picked up a 47uf 35 v (50 wasn't available)for 99 cents and headed back home.
Reinstalled the cap and the module and it's been working properly
for the past 3 days. I'll keep you posted if this fix fails.
