Neue Exterieur- Umfänge, detaillierte Verfeinerungen im Interieur, das neue Ausstattungspaket Design Pure Traction, die neue Einstiegsmotorisierung sDrive18i und die jüngsten Ergänzungen im Angebot von BMW ConnectedDrive setzen frische Akzente, die den Roadster von BMW noch attraktiver und individueller machen.
Der neue BMW Z4 debütiert 25 Jahre nach dem legendären BMW Z1. Der auf der Internationalen Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) des Jahres 1987 vorgestellte Roadster sorgte nicht nur mit seinem revolutionären Türkonzept für Furore, sondern auch mit seinen agilen und exakt kontrollierbaren Fahreigenschaften. Mit dem BMW Z1 begann der jüngste Abschnitt der Roadster-Geschichte von BMW, die bis in die 1930er-Jahre zurückreicht und mit dem BMW 328, dem Sieger der Mille Miglia 1940, sowie dem BMW 507 des Jahres 1955 erste Höhepunkte erreichte. In den 1990er-Jahren weckten die Modelle BMW Z3 und BMW Z8 neue Begeisterung für das klassische Konzept eines offenen Zweisitzers. Sie ebneten den Weg für den BMW Z4 der ersten Generation und seinen Nachfolger, der als erster Roadster der Marke ein versenkbares Hardtop erhielt.
Der Erfolg der modernen Roadster von BMW resultiert aus einer konsequenten Umsetzung des Fahrzeugkonzepts, die sowohl das Design als auch die Fahreigenschaften beeinflusst und im neuen BMW Z4 authentisch zur Geltung kommt. Die lange Motorhaube, der lange Radstand, die niedrige Gürtellinie und das flache Heck bestimmen das Erscheinungsbild so klar und kompromisslos wie bei keinem anderen Fahrzeug in diesem Segment. Dank der tiefen, knapp vor der Hinterachse angeordneten Sitzposition können Fahrer und Beifahrer die längs- und querdynamischen Impulse, die auf die Hinterräder wirken, besonders intensiv wahrnehmen. Der direkte Kontakt ermöglicht es dem Fahrer zudem, das Antriebsmoment feinfühlig und präzise zu dosieren. So entsteht Roadster-Feeling im Stil von BMW.
Auch das Hardtop fügt sich in die harmonische Formgebung ein. In geschlossenem Zustand zeichnet es eine sanft fließende Dachlinie. Große Fensterflächen optimieren die Rundumsicht und das Raumgefühl im Interieur. Nach dem Öffnen finden die beiden Dachelemente kompakt übereinander liegend im flachen Heck des Roadsters Platz. Auch die in dezentem Schwarz gehaltenen A-Säulen unterstreichen insbesondere bei geöffnetem Dach die flache Silhouette des neuen BMW Z4. Für einen markanten Akzent bei geschlossenem Dach sorgt das optionale BMW Individual Hardtop, das in den beiden Kontrastfarben Schwarz uni und Glaciersilber metallic angeboten wird. Das Hardtop lässt sich per Knopfdruck und bei einer Fahrgeschwindigkeit von bis zu 40 km/h öffnen, der automatische Vorgang nimmt19 Sekunden in Anspruch.
Die charakteristischen Doppelrundscheinwerfer bilden zusammen mit der breiten BMW Niere eine roadsterspezifische Interpretation der markentypischen Frontansicht. Die serienmäßigen Bi-Xenon-Scheinwerfer des neuen BMW Z4 sind besonders flach ausgeführt und reichen weit in die vorderen Radhäuser hinein. Sie sind mit LED-gespeisten Leuchtringen ausgestattet, die das Tagfahrlicht in markentypischer Ausprägung erzeugen. Darüber hinaus weisen die Lichtquellen jetzt eine auffallend dreidimensionale, die hochwertige Technik der Xenon-Scheinwerfer betonende Gestaltung auf. Am oberen Rand werden die Doppelrundscheinwerfer von einer LED- Akzentleuchte angeschnitten, deren Metalleinfassung den BMW Schriftzug trägt. Die integrierten Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger werden von einer chromfarbenen Einfassung umrahmt, die den edlen Charakter der Leuchteneinheiten zusätzlich hervorhebt. Außerdem erhalten die Kiemenelemente auf den vorderen Seitenwänden durch eine neu gestaltete konische Einfassung für die Seitenblinker einen dynamischen Schwung.
