Just a couple quick notes on the booster kits; first, I need to make everyone aware that there is a defect in one of the seals in the booster rebuild kit. (This might not apply to E32s, but definitely to e31s). It's the one that goes in the rear position and seals against fluid going into the passenger compartment, over the brake pedal. When I had the kit made up, I sent an entire booster to the seal manufacturer. They recommended a polyurethane rear seal to replace the original rubber one. There is a chance that they can leak, even when installed well; their engineers made a mistake, and it would seem that poly is not a good choice for this application. If your existing rear seal is good and doesn't leak now, don't touch it; just leave it alone and use it again. All the other seals and o-rings are fine and work well; just don't go near the rear seal.

I'm having some NBR seals made up, but it's a slow process because a mold must be made. There are no other substitute seals nor any options besides buying a new cylinder (which, of course, is why I made the kits in the first place). I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused; in the future I will ask for multiple opinions on ANY engineering question.

Second, ATE/Continental may have made running changes to the boosters. I've encountered them with different-sized imput shafts, and there can be minor variations in the ends of the output shaft. Be careful if you're swapping parts between different units.

Third, the input shaft on certain e32-spec cylinders is 7/8" diameter. The ones I had made were all 5/8", so there never was a full replacement kit for certain cylinders. The early type seals I've seen for the 7/8" shafts were a 2-piece setup of a square profile o-riing and a nylon backing washer. Those might be easier to source than the custom one-piece seal used in the 5/8" units.

All of the other internal seals work in all the units I've found so far, and as long as your input seal is intact you can benefit by rebuilding the rest of the unit.

This repair needs to have the booster removed from the car.

Tools needed: Dremal, vise, bench grinder, battery drill motor with reverse, 1-1/8 inch deep socket, 13mm 1/4 in drive socket with an extension into the drill motor, blade screw driver, 10mm drill bit or 3/8 inch metal drill bit, electric drill motor with 3/8 chuck.

Noch einmal fuer die, die sich nicht so genau auskennen: es geht ausschliesslich um den HYDRAULISCHEN BKV, nicht den , der mit Vakuum arbeitet wie bei den meisten 735

Muß mich jetzt doch wieder "einmischen".

Die Gehäusedichtung, die als "O-ring groove & backup ring" definiert ist, ist original ein Simmering.
Hier gibt es zwei Größen. Entweder 16,xxxxxx mm oder 18,xxxxx mm Durchmesser.

Nachdem von mir nun etliche BKV's repariert wurden, ist ein O-Ring wie beschrieben noch nie verbaut vorgefunden worden.

Der original verbaute Simmering muß von mir separat aus France geordert werden.
Ist eine Sonderanfertigung und normal nicht im Handel zu bekommen.
Dem entsprechend ist auch der Preis.

Frank, da Deine Reparatursaetze ja nun schon ca. 2 Jahre in E31 getestet wurden und dicht sind, biete sie doch mal an nun fuer jeden. Ich denke, die Testzeit ist zu Ende.

das Thema ist ja eingeschlafen, deshalb meine Frage: Gibt es noch solche Rep-Sätze für den BKV zu erwerben? Habe einen E32 750i Bj. Anfang 1994.

Hallo Tom, wie Du mir geschrieben hast, liefert der Jay aus USA keine Rep-Saetze mehr, sondern nur noch reparierte BKV im Tausch. Den hast Du ja jetzt bei ihm bestellt.

Ich vermute mal, er macht es aus Sicherheitsgruenden wegen moeglichem falschen Zusammenbau. Er hatte mal geschrieben, ich zitiere:

Parts Geek and its supplier A-1 Cardone, are selling bad rebuilt hydraulic brake boosters.

I had a client of mine who sent me a leaking booster. When I opened it up to repair, I noticed that it had an incorrect shaft seal installed.

On top of that, the shaft seal was installed up-side down, and missing the garter spring.

My client told me that his first Cardone from Parts Geek leaked as soon as it was installed, he sent it back to Parts Geek and they sent him another.

When he installed the second one, it also leaked.
And thats when he called me, and I used my rebuild service and sent him one of my rebuilt spares.

When I received his core back, I set to rebuild it for the next client.
I was shocked, the shaft seal was upside down, I then pressed the shaft seal out of the black plastic cup. The shaft seal specs are 9.5mm i.d. x 22.0mm o.d. and thickness of 6mm.
The A-1 Cardone is 10.0mm i.d., way too big. It is made in China by YEI Shien, part #A19168 10x22x6.
Because it was in backwards the garter spring came off, or was never there in the first place.

Doch schon etwas her, aber wieder aktuell - :
Hat einer die Maße der O-Ringe parat.
Ich habe hier alles gelesen, einmal ist von 38mm die Rede und dann vom Zoll-maß.
Vielleicht hat jemand einen Satz berstellt und kann ihn vermessen - wäre klasse!
