Hello from Scotland

Hello everyone.
I found this site from  www.bimmerforums.com and I recognise one or two of you from over their - Dominik with his lovely B12.

I am about to get my E65 730i SE today - the garage is installing the retrofit kit for the 6 CD changer in the boot part number 65120152999 or 65120306637. I think they have got the wrong one from BMW and are sorting it out as I type this.

Did you know that it is possible to have a total of 13 CDs in your E65?
6 in the front, one in the middle and 6 in the boot?
All can be controlled by the I drive.
However if your car doesnt have the 6 CDs in the front then your maximum is 7.........
EDIT IGNORE THIS BIT ABOVE - The retrofit goes in the dash not the boot!!

Sorry for the lack of German. I have bought a translating book and will try to improve my limited German vocabulary.

Well okay, 13 Cd's is a nice bonus, but whats the point? We have the ordinary 6 CD Charger on the Co driver's side of the Dashboard and obviously the one in the middle, and then also in the Space bit behind the I drive controller, where you can put your posessions in, there are 4 CD slots inside where you can put your CD's in, which I think is more than reasonable.

But anyhow, whether its 13 or 7 CD's in the charger. Have fun with your 7 series!

when you order the dvd-changer,
you can fill it up with cd´s too
and what´s the best:
you can have the perfect dvd-sound!

Went to see the car today.
Information is slightly wrong to what I had researched.
My 6 month old 730 only had the single CD in the dash and  www.realoem.com made out that the retrofit CD goes into the boot which matched the dealers comment of not being able to retrofit the 6 stack CD in the dash.
I saw today that the retrofit is not in the boot but the dash!!!
WHich means there is still space for the 6 stack DVD player in the boot!!

Mind you they are having fun with it as the first CD unit didnt code up and this is why I wasnt able to pick the car up today. Looks like Friday now.

Just a general question:

Are there a lot of 7 series up in Scotland? I mean here in London they are all over the place, so it would be quite interesting to here how it is up in Scotland.

Are the cars being sold a lot? Did u get a decent discount from your Garage?

The car is from a main dealer and has under 5000 miles on the clock.
I have got just under 40% discount on the new price!!!
Titanium Silver with black leather, folding mirrors, xenon lights, sport steering wheel and in as new condition. I have a set of 19" Style 95s in stock ready to go on the car when I get it. The 18" ones will be a good back up.

There are very few 7 series in this area.
It is rare for me to see one on the road. Each dealer that I know will have been selling one every few months if they are lucky.
To give you an example there is a garage here that has a used BMW 745 up for sale here for what must be a year now?!!

Hopefully it's worth it!

But it's good that you bought the car straight from a BMW Garage and not some No Name Dealer in regard to the Guarante and things like that, but hopefully you won't have any major problems, cause belive me, it can become quite a pain in the backside, at the moment our 7 Series is at BMW cause the Engine blew up in October!
