Here you can see that not only has the cowling which limits the armature broken...

but this, in turn, has caused the metal rod to break the main housing by travelling outside its normal range

My solution to the broken stepper housing involved some 10x2mm aluminium strip and a vice.

Believe it or not, this wasn't strong enough to hold the armature from going beyond it's design limit! So I made a further strengthening piece and secured both ends to the IHKA housing.

The final task is to secure it the motor to the housing with a few tie-wraps
