here is the deal: in california polizei is not very strict when it comes to a front license plate. when the car was delivered to me in 2005, i drove it with european delivery temporary munich plates for the first couple of months:

but since i am from russia, i felt that putting a russian plate on the front might be a better fit:

the "177" code is for moscow. there is also a veyron in moscow with a "177" plate:  http://englishrussia.com/images/veyron_moscow/1.jpg

on the rear i dont have a license plate. i took it off when i was waxing the car and never put it back on. in the last two years i never once had problems with police. they see a new car and assume you just haven't received your license plate.

on my old 745Li i had no plate at all on the front:

some states in america are very strict, but in california it seems to be not a big deal. i know in europe i would probably be arrested by now if i drove for two years without license plates

and if i ever get in trouble with police, its a $10 fine which doesn't affect my driving record (as long as i fix it by installing the plates)

i think police is so relaxed about this issue is because we have very few cameras which issues us traffic tickets and fines.
