take the car to the next BMW dealer and let them estimate the costs for installing a DVD player and (separately) for getting the rear entertainment system installed. As Ralf said above, the player needs to be registered to the car’s bus system, something only a BMW garage is able to do. Even if the cost is higher, you might want to go this route.

As for rear DVD screens, the market is full of third party solutions (which get connected to the cars entertainment system) but often they are not as comfortable as the BMW solution and don’t fit the car’s interior as well as the original BMW solution does. A while back we had some discussions here on 3rd party rear DVD screens.
Where in Germany are you located? Someone on this board might be able to direct you to a dealer / garage / after market supplier who is able to help you.
