Die Entlüftung ist auch wahrscheinlicher - das Getriebe bzw das Bild davon steht kopfüber, also ist der Getriebehals von oben nach unten vollgesifft.
Das es bei undichtem Simmerring auch auf der Oberseite ölig wird - eher unwahrscheinlich.
Den Simmerring vorne würd ich sowieso wechseln.

The vent is more probalby - the gearbox or the image of it is upside down, so the gear neck from top to bottom is oily.
So much oil on the top with a leaky oil seal- unlikely. But repalce it neverless.
The oil seal at the converter should be also replaced - you will never get there so easy

But for your question - the slight rust around the converter is normal - als long as the inputshaft isn´t also rusty. Pull it out of the trany (beware of the oil) and check.
