Hatte dies auch mal im Englischen Forum reingesetzt. Der erste hat es probiert, ueberbrueckt/kurzgeschlossen wurden die Batteriekabel so

Und hier das Resultat, erstaunlich:

Erich, you are a genius!!!!!

After a shaky pull off and a drop out of 2nd gear the car got used to it's brain again. I drove in "E" and hard in "S" around a couple of M25 junctions and then on to some suburban A and B roads where the gearshift was notoriously bad.

Idling - Now utterly perfect without even the slightest flutter.

Gearchange - I think whilst I was waiting, a couple of BMW mechanics must have put a new Gearbox in the car.
1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th are now stunningly smooth and 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th are completely imperceptible. WOW!!

Light throttle / throttle off - I was having problems when backing off gently (around town). The engine would try and drop to idle whilst still on the move causing a heavy braking effect - Most annoying! - Now, nothing at all - Perfect!

Response - Feels like a barrel of Redex has been forced through the engine. Completely different!

Kick down - No more waiting for the box to find the lowest gear (as was beautifully illustrated by Coyote at the Scottish meet), it just drops and goes.

Erich - thanks for the information! You have saved me a fortune. If anyone has any probs as above, I implore you to try this!! (Just have your Radio code with you!)

The car comes first, everything else later.
