Habe hier noch mal was aus USA kopiert:
As the brake bomb or accumulator fails it loses its compressibility making the brake pedal feel hard. A brake bomb is a cannister with a sealed rubber bladder filled with Nitrogen gas..hence providing compressibility to the brake fluid. As the bomb ages the bladders start to fail and Nitrogen slowly or rapidly escapes from the sealed bladders. Not hard or expensive to replace. David F as I recall suggests removing the front bumper for easiest access to
the bomb..we debated this some time ago and he may be correct. A job you could do yourself and common for a 10 year old car.

the brake bomb is virtally the same item we both have in our LAD rear suspensions..I have replaced both of my accumulators in my rear LAD suspension due to age.
